I am on board with No Kid Hungry!

 

I have joined up with Domino Sugar, C&H, Duncan Hines, and Kroger to support a great cause to help feed hungry children. I will be having a bake sale locally, all through out June. 

I will also be reaching out to several companies to donate products for a raffle on my blog. This is to help spread the word about No Kid Hungry, and to reach my donation goal of  $300!!

Cute way to reuse soap scraps!

Awesome idea for reusing soap scraps!

At my house, we don't like to let anything go to waste, so we came up with a way to make new soap out of old soap. You know those annoying little slivers of soap that keep slipping out of your hand in the shower? Instead of struggling to use them until depleted, or throwing them out, store them in the fridge. Once you have enough leftovers, you can either melt it all down together and make one huge mix, or melt the colors down individually to make something a bit nicer (like the butterflies up top). I even add more fragrance and dye if needed. I am not great at making soaps, but melting used soap and pouring it into a mold is easy peasy!

What was once several small pieces of soap, is now one cute molded soap. To melt my soap scraps, I use a stainless steel double boiler. This is important, as you do not want to overheat the soap. If you do not have one, try using a small saucepan and a pyrex bowl. Boil water in the saucepan, place the bowl on top, add soap scraps, and stir the soap bits until melted. I got this idea from melting chocolate!

Sjaak's Organic Chocolate Review

Sjaak's Organic Chocolate

I was excited to try these products my family and I are firm believers in using natural products whenever possible, while maintaining fair wages and  fair trade practices.

Sjaak's Organic Chocolates aims to create the highest quality gourmet organic chocolates possible while simultaneously supporting a positive work environment, fair trade practices and encouraging sustainable agriculture through the use of organic, non-GMO ingredients.

The first thing I tried were the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Bites (shown in the green box). These tiny flower shaped delights brought me back to my childhood. They were rich and creamy, almost like an adult version of the Cherry Cordials I loved so much. The dark chocolate is rich and smooth, while the filling is tart and sweet, just like a real raspberry. They are made with minimal ingredients, and real organic raspberries. You can try them for yourself for only $0.35 a piece!

The Milk Chocolate with Creamy Caramel bar was delicious! Not what I expected from a Vegan caramel. Five tasty squares of smooth milk chocolate (made with rice milk) and thick gooey caramel.

The Dark Chocolate with Almonds bar was by far my favorite. The chocolate was rich and dark, but did not leave a bitter aftertaste. Just the way I like my dark chocolate. Each of the 5 yummy squares boasts a full sized almond.

The last bar I tried was the Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar. It offered five delectable squares of milk chocolate stuffed full of rich, creamy peanut butter. Definitely satisfied the sweet tooth for a few days to come!

My ABSOLUTE favorite item I tried from Sjaak's was their Salted Caramel sampler pack. I am head over heels in love with Salted Caramel anything, so I was stoked to try this! These chocolates were so rich and flavorful, making my mouth water as I tried to guess the ingredients. My favorite was the Dark Chocolate Caramel with Ginger. Mmmm!
